United Girls96 white finish group play undefeated

Today the team finished as the number #1 seed in the finals by beating TFA, from Cincinnati, Ohio 2-1 in an emotional game. United opened the scoring 2 minutes in, when Mikayla Casey ran past her defender and buried the ball past the keeper.

TFA scored their goal when a United player slipped and lost her footing, allowing the opponent to be 1v1 in on the goal against the run of play. This goal, along with loud parents on the opponents sideline gave TFA momentum. UFC silenced the fans when Danielle Tilton slotted a ball to Mikayla Casey at the 21 minute mark as Casey beat her defender and showed composure in front of the net. 2-1 United at half.

The girls opened the second half with good possession, pinning TFA in their defensive end for much of the second half. UFC had 5 or 6 good goal scoring opportunities but just couldn't put the game out of reach.

The defenders held strong in the last 5 minutes as TFA fought with emotion and threw numbers forward. The score finished 2-1 for the good guys.

Minutes later TFA found out that they made it to the finals on goal differential. UFC must now turn around and face TFA again tomorrow for the Presidents Cup National Championship.
