ERIC BISHOP CHOOSES WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY OF ST LOUIS
Washington University has landed one of UFC’s most prized possessions in Eric Bishop. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with over 400 student athletes and I have never come across a player who excelled as much on the soccer field as well as off of it.
Last weekend Eric led his United FC team to the club’s second ever Cal South National Championship. His list of success on the soccer field is endless; Dallas Cup participant, back to back Coast Soccer League Cup champions, Far West Regional League Spring and Fall champions, Surf Cup Champions, Surf Cup Finalist, CSL Premier Champs, North versus South Premier State Champions, Nomads College Cup Finalist, Far West Regional semi finalist, United Cup Champs, Albion College showcase finalist, and Cal South National Champs to name a few.
Eric Bishop has been a member of United FC since age 12 and has maintained an average GPA of 4.84. He scored 2180 on the SAT'S and 35 on the ACT. Last season Eric was awarded National Merit semi finalist in 2010 upon taking the PSAT, an elite honor that less than one percent of high school seniors achieve nationwide. This year OC Registrar voted Eric Scholar Athlete of the Week as Eric has also excelled on his high school men's soccer team at Santa Margarita. It doesn't end there. Eric along with former United FC player Soo Joon Park started a club at their high school (SMC) called Welldone.
This club is a part of the larger Welldone organization that is run by four graduate students from Los Angeles. They are working to raise awareness on global water issues and provide clean water for communities in the developing world. Eric's club focuses specifically on building deep wells in rural villages in Ghana and water holding tanks for newly built schools in Kenya. This is something Eric is extremely passionate about and wanted to do his part to give back to the global community. Eric says, "As athletes we seem to take water for granted drinking bottled after bottled water at games and practices… it is such a vital, essential part of life and everyone deserves to have access to drinkable water." Last year, Eric’s club raised approximately $15,000 in fundraisers, enough to supply a school in Kenya with a water tank.
Eric will graduate from SMC June 3rd and will then head to Boise, Idaho with his United FC team on June 19th as he and his teammates aim to capture the clubs first regional title.
