(February 25th, 2012 Los Angeles, CA) United FC was honored at the 2012 Cal South Soccer Nation Expo & Awards Banquet for both superior coaching and on field performance.

Assistant Director of Coaching, Bryan Wallace was awarded the 2011 Older Boys Competitive Coach of the Year. On receiving the award, “I'm so pleased to win the Older's Coach of the Year award, receiving this award is such an amazing honor. I'd like to thank my parents for always being there and encouraging me, and everyone else in my life who made this award possible for me”.

Bryan joined United FC in 2004 and has been instrumental in the rise of the older boys program. Bryan’s 2010/11 BU18 Black team finished the CSL Premier season as undefeated champions (10-0-1 GD +32), won the 2011 CYSA-S National Cup title, were Surf Cup XXX finalists, were 2010 Far West Region Spring League Champions and were finalists in the 2011 Region IV Championships. 2011 also saw Bryan’s United FC BU17 Black team reach the 2011 Far West Regional Spring League semi finals and attain the Top Drawer Soccer #1 National Ranking along with Bryan’s U13 Gold team.

Off the field, Coach Wallace was instrumental in the formation of the partnership with MLS Club Chivas USA and is currently preparing to travel to Dallas, TX where both the U17 Black and U13 Gold teams will be competing in the XXXIII Dallas Cup tournament.

Also honored was United FC alumnus Coach Carrie Taylor who was awarded the 2011 Developmental Coach of the Year for her work with the 2011 US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup National Champions GU14 White team. Coach Taylor joined United FC in 2009 as the Older Girls Assistant Director of Coaching, but moved on in September of 2011 to pursue opportunities with the MLS Club Vancouver Whitecaps. During her tenure at United FC Coach Taylor made important contributions to the Club both on and off the pitch.

Finally, the GU14 White team was honored for their National Title winning performance in the 2011 US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup. As Director of Coaching Matt Swindle noted, “It was great to see the girls enjoying themselves, interacting with the other teams honored and providing the loudest cheers for Bryan and Carrie, however with their hair down it was hard to recognize them as that tenacious on the field team”. Although not honored, special credit is due to both Karl Simonian who coached the team for United FC in 2009 and is largely responsible for both recruiting and coaching the team while at Mission Viejo SC before the move to United FC, and to the parents of the team for their commitment to the team’s success.

In addition to the United FC awards, our partner from Chivas USA, Teddy Chronopolous was awarded the 2011 Younger Boys Competitive Coach of the Year.
