ufcNEWglow1/6th of the world's population lacks access to clean water. 4800 people die every day from diseases associated with this lack of clean water.

Two United FC players are working to do their part to give back. Last year, senior players, Eric Bishop (BU19 Black) and Steve Soo Joon Park (BU19 White), started a club at their high school, Santa Margarita Catholic, called WellDone. This club is a part of the larger WellDone Organization that is run by 4 graduate students from Los Angeles They are working to raise awareness on global water issues and provide clean water for communities in the developing world (www.welldone.org). Eric and Steve's club focuses specifically on building deep wells in rural villages in Ghana and water-holding tanks for newly built schools in Kenya. They decided to start this club and support this cause since it is something that both boys felt passionate about and wanted to do their part to give back to the global community. Eric says "As athletes, we seem to take water for granted drinking bottle after bottle at games and practices. It is such a vital, essential part of life and everyone deserves to have access to drinkable water."

Last year, the club earned approximately $1500 in fundraisers, enough to supply a school in Kenya with a water tank. This year, they have bigger plans. On November 14th, Well Done, in conjunction with another club on campus, will host a completely student-run concert called Rock for Peace. Last year, this concert raised over $13,000 and this year, and this year, the bar is set even higher. 100% of the proceeds of the concert will go to the water containers in Kenya as well as the Casa de Vida Orphanage in Nicaragua. The students are able to put on this concert and support their cause thanks to the generosity and donations of the people in the community. Therefore, any private donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. If interested in giving a tax-deductible donation to the cause or for more information regarding the organizations, contact Eric Bishop at rock4peace.smchs@gmail.com.
