
The NCAA Collegiate conference for D1 schools will begin this week, we encourage all of our players to attend as many Collegiate games as possible (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JC) as it is a great way to learn about level of College players, and what it will take for the average United FC player to play at that level. Below is an update of the current United male players playing at the Collegiate level. Many of our players have moved on to successful careers at the Collegiate level.
Above Ryan Neil currently plays at Cal Berkeley after playing at UFC for over 4 years, the Golden bears are currently 4-1-2 and will begin Pac Ten conference competition this weekend at Stanford, over the weekend Ryan Neil and the golden bears tied 2-2 with Denver University, where Ryan scored his first ever Collegiate goal, so far Ryan has been the only freshman at Cal to have played in every game so far. The Pac ten conference Include (UCLA, Washington, Oregon State, Stanford, Cal, San Diego State)
At Cal State East Bay University Boast 6 former United players in Alex Settlemire, Alexis Romo, Conley Perry, Bryce Bookhammer, Arthur Ethel, Patrick Gilbertson, the Pioneers currently play in the D2 CCA Conference which includes (Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State LA, Sonoma State, Hum bolt, Cal State San Bernardino, UCSD, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State Stanislaus, Chico State, San Francisco State) all six freshman United players have seen playing time this season, Alexis Romo has been a standout as he has scored 4 goals so far, the pioneers are 1-7-1 in overall play, over the weekend they tied Cal State Monterey Bay 2-2 over the weekend.
At UCLA Sophomore Dakota Collins started the season on a high note earning a starting position, however he has been out Injured for the past month and only return to light jogging this weekend. The bruins are 5-2-1 after defeating Cal State Fullerton last night 3-2, over the weekend the Bruins lost to Big West powerhouse UC Santa Barbara over the weekend, where UC Santa Barbara broke the Collegiate attendance record by having over 16,000 fans.
St Mary's College freshman and UFC Alumni Defender Michael Jachetta has played in 1 game so far this season as Michael continue to have discomfort from his knee Surgery last year. Apparently the screws that were placed into Michael's knee were the Incorrect size and therefore he will need to have them removed this Thursday. The Gael's are 4-2-1 and over the weekend lost to Stanford 0-3, the Gaels are currently ranked #18 in the Nation. The Gaels play in the mountain Pacific Conference along with (USD, Loyola Marymount, USF, Santa Clara, Portland, Gonzaga)
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 2-3-1 Freshman Connor Dreschler continue to exceed all expectations by winning a starting position at center back his freshman year and never looking back, Connor has started in all 6 games playing 90 minutes in each game, Junior forward Tim White has also earned a starting position and leads the Mustangs in the scoring department this season, this season has been a little inconsistent for the Mustangs, their big highlight this season Beating National power Indiana University 1-0, however over the weekend they lost to Loyola Marymount 1-4 at home. Cal Poly play in the Big West Conference along with (UCI, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Fullerton, UCSB, UC Davis, UC Riverside)
Cal State San Marcos Cougars 4-3-2, Freshman Carlin Kennedy has featured in 8 games this season, however he missed this weeks tough contest at Concordia University after sustaining an Injury, the Cougars ran out 2-0 winners, which moved them above .500 for the first time this season, Kacey Wooten and Martin Suarez also contributed to the win and have featured in all 9 games this season. The cougars compete in the NAIA Conference
Azusa Pacific University The Cougars got off the a tough start in their Conference season opener this weekend by giving up a winning goal to # 5 Vanguard University with 5 seconds remaining in regulation, the Cougars boast 3 former UFC players, Junior team captain Robert James leads the Cougars to an Impressive 7-2 record and a #12 national ranking, over the weekend unfortunately Robert broke his wrist and will miss the next few weeks of conference play, Freshman Jeremy Bishop has scored 2 goals so far and has continued to contribute to the Cougars push to win a second National title, Freshman Garreth Mehguth have also been outstanding in his play, the cougars play in the GSAC conference along with (Vanguard, Hope International, Point Loma, Concordia, Biola, The Masters, Cal Baptist, Westmont, San Diego Christian, Fresno Pacific)
UC Irvine Men Soccer has risen to power house heights as it currently boast a 7-1 record the best record of all D1 College Programs on the west coast, UFC Alumni's center back Jake Marcon and GK Justin Tucker are both working hard to get on the field as its always tough to break into a top 20 national program. Over the weekend the Anteaters won the UNLV Tournament by defeating Cal State Bakersfield 4-0 and UNLV 4-0 the Anteaters return home this Wednesday as they kick off conference play 7pm versus UC Riverside. UC Irvine also has UFC Assistant Director Bryan Wallace on its coaching staff.
Cal State San Bernardino Men's Soccer are exceeding all expectations this season, Alumni Brad Smagacz has played sparingly however his team this weekend defeated number #1 Ranked Cal State LA 2-1, the team is now 6-2-0 this week the Coyotes travel to UCSD for an Important conference game on Friday.
Vanguard University Men's soccer pulled off a huge upset this weekend by defeating Azusa Pacific University on the road 3-2 UFC Alumni's all three are goalkeepers Landon Hererra, Cody Adams and Alex Figeroa. Landon has earned the starting job and has rarely been between the sticks all season, Landon has been a starter for all three years at Vanguard and has never let that rain go, over the years he has won numerous accolades and awards. The 5-0-1 lions travel to San Diego Christian this week in hopes of maintaining their #5 national ranking. The Lions boast 3 United FC coaches on their staff in Ali Malekah, Andrew May and Sean Forster.
