Bio: Coach Swindle began his coaching career in 1991 when he served as an assistant coach for his alma mater, Brea Olinda High School. In 1993, he took over the head coaching position and guided the varsity team to an Orange League Championship and a semi-finalist finish in CIF Division III Championship. In addition to his success at Brea Olinda, Matt has earned a for developing top teams and players at United FC. Coach Swindle began coaching for San Juan in 1994 with a Gold BU15 team and most recently in 2001, the BU19 CSL Premier Co-Champion Mustangs.

Coach Swindle's playing success began in 1986 as a member of the BOHS CIF Championship team. Upon graduation from Brea Olinda in 1988, Matt accepted a partial soccer scholarship to Cal State Dominguez Hills where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. After his college-playing career, Matt went on to play semi-professional soccer for Lusitania F.C. and the Phoenix Club. Coach Swindle holds a Master's Degree in Education and a doctorate from USC in Educational Leadership.

Coach Swindle's coaching highlights include tournament championships at the Surf Cup (1), Nomads College Showcase (4), victory over the U.S National U17 Team, State National Cup Finalist (1996, 1999), Dallas Cup Participation, and CIF Div. III Championship in 2001. He concluded his tenure at Brea Olinda H.S. with an overall record of 134-32-32 in ten seasons as the head coach and was named 2001 CIF Div III Coach of the Year as well as LA Times and OC Register Coach of the Year. Former players of Coach Swindle have or are currently enjoying successful soccer careers at UCLA, SMU, Santa Clara U., LMU, Azusa Pacific, USD, UCI, Vanguard, Chapman U., UCI, Air Force Academy, IVC, Fullerton College, Cal State Bakersfield, Fresno State, Chico State, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, UCSD, and Graceland U. Coach Swindle is particularly proud of his 2001 BU19 Mustangs who compiled an average academic GPA of 3.8 and an average SAT score of 1250.

Coach Swindle brings an emphasis in individual skill, defensive/offensive tactics, work ethic, teamwork, and high percentage soccer to United FC. Matt is currently a teacher at Brea Canyon Alternative High School and enjoys spending time fishing, camping, and with his family.
